Self-clinching fastener nuts (Swage nuts) are installed by placing them in properly sized holes in softer ductile sheet material and applying a parallel squeezing force to the head of the nut. It permanently anchors itself to the sheet metal by swaging the surrounding material into its undercut, where the serrated clinching ring prevents itself from rotating after installation.
